Hello and welcome to Dampferstube.
My name ist Alex. And, as always, behind the cam ist Andreas.
In the background Stormi is working on a Video. You can find it after the moderation, right here in this video.
We had a lot of requests, also from american and international users about the topic: how to bring logos on the mod boxes. In this case on the eVic Mini or the Cuboid.
How does it work? How does the firmware change work.
Our Stormi has learned and worked a lot. Now u can call how a “professionell”. He also downloaded Gimp, to show how it
works with a free tool. The video will get english subtitles. Which is a good chance for international visitors
to undertstand what this video is about. Speaking the complete text in English
is a bit too hard for us. Thats why we choose subtitles. We hope that the video is understandable for
international viewers. As alreday said Stormi works with Gimp. Which means, you dont need to have a expanisve tool. So you dont need to have Photoshop. If you have any questions, dont be shy, use the comments below I want to say thank you to the new likers on our Facebook Page.
We reached more than 1000 fans yesterday. Its a major step for us and it
depends on Stormis job, with those firmwares. Actually we have more than 60 logos online.
We also have a lot of requests about the downloads. Downloads are a bit tricky,
if it comes to copyright and licenes. Please drops us a PM here
or on Facebook. We try to answer every question.
And here we go: Stormis Tutorial about Firmware and Logos. Hope you enjoy it. Cu later! First of all: thank you Alex for the opening.
My Name is Stormi. Welcome to Dampferstube. We will start with a little tutorial today. We will create and upload a logo. This logo can used on eVic VTC mini and Cuboid. We will use a normal text for that logo. Because its easier. It should be not that complex. Lets go! First of all we start with Gimp.
Gimp is a free graphic tool. You will find the download links in the video description. Everybody can spend some time with that tool. Let us see, what you create. Lets start with a new file.
Click on File and create a new one. Choose 640×480 pix. Thats enough for us. Choose the texttool and
mark a area Choose a font type. In my case it will be
Brush Script STD Medium Choose a font size
I choose 200 The font color is black
and we write a text in it i type Stormi That´s it. Yet we moving the text with the moving tool into the right position The only thing we have to do next is,
save the file. In GIMP it is very complicated
and different then other programs
where you can say save the file under and choose your file. No, here we have to export the file. So we have to click export and name the file. In this case ill name it Stormi_Test1.png Press export and confirm it. Now we can close Gimp and switch to
Paint. Click on open file which might take a moment and choose the file. I actually named it Stormi_Test1 but i lost the overview. However i already prefabricated a file and here it is. So we just have to change the pixelsize
to 64 X 40. Sadly the box can´t handle more pixels.
Now just confirm that and click on save file under a different format or just save under. Here you can choose in which format you want to
save the file. In this case we choose Monochrom-Bitmap because the Cuboid and the VTC Mini or only capable of two colors to the cause of the black and white display. Thats why we choose this format. Now we click on the Stormi_Test file which is also already prepared and overwright the file. Now the grafic looks a little bit pixilated
but thats not bad because that is exactly what we want to have. Paint can be closed now and we open the NFirmwareeditor, which is linked in the description box. I want to have the logo on the Cuboid and on the VTC Mini so we open the program twice. I adjust the windows so i have a better overview. Here i choose the original Firmware for the Cuboid and VTC Mini that i already downloaded before. Here we choose the newest version and scroll down to the vapor giants logo, because that is the one we want to replace. Now we do the same thing for the other device choose the newest version and scroll down to the logo because we will also replace it. Since the version 2.5 of the editor there is a picture import function which we will use. So we click here and choose our Stormi_Test.bmp that we pixilated earlier. Now we go to the other window use the same picture import function and choose the file. Here you can see how the picture will look on your device. Luckely we don´t have to change anything except we want to have black letters on a white background instead. Herefore we click on the inverse button. Now for both devices we have to go in the strings and search for the word Power. But not this one, we need the one at this point. For the other device its the same thing. For the Letter P we choose our logo and for the other letters we choose nothing or “null”. The same thing for the other device. Our logo instead of the letter p and “null” for the rest. Now save the file under save encrypted file name it and save it. The same thing for the other device except we choose a different name to not get confused. Ok, let´s get to the last point which is the original firmware updater available at the Joyetech website. The Link is in the description aswell. It is available for windows and mac. My box is already connected. Cuboid firmware version 3.11 and harware version 1.01. Now we just have to click update and choose the folder that contains our file. So we click on our prepared and the firmware is updated. That´s is and the logo should already be on your device now. The only thing that you can´t see now is the watts counter but that shouldn´t disturb anyone. If you want to your current watts you shoudl hit the fire button three times until the counter starts blinking. To see the logo again you just need to hit the fire button once. Now you can change the watts with the + and – buttons and check it with another three clicks on the fire button.
